New Benchmark Test Suggests Intel DG2 Could Indeed Rival Top-End Nvidia Cards

Nvidia is almost unquestionably the big boss of the graphics card world, however the scales may be tipped in one more organization's approval come one year from now. With tech giants Intel, which is essentially being named "group blue," preparing to dispatch its Arc "Alchemist" GPU in Q2 2022, there's a lot of buzz around how well it could perform, especially among "group green" and long-term rivals AMD, also known as "group red". What most will be pondering is the thing that the final specs will be and how well it will stack facing the opposition, if possible. Indeed, there has been another benchmark test that has been led which does seem to show some great signs.

As indicated by a new report from Tom's Hardware, which itself cites a tweet, it seems that somewhere around one of the impending Intel DG2 cards will actually want to take on some of the major leagues in the industry, essentially Nvidia. A benchmark test being directed on the 2016 game Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation shows the specific GPU tested may in all likelihood be comparable to the likes of the RTX 3070, or 3070 Ti, with even a slight possibility of it being up there with the RTX 3080. This means that, whichever card it is that was being used, has the possibility to sit straight up there with some of the top-finished results.

This also matches with what was discussed quite recently. Back in October, a hole suggested the Intel Alchemist could take on the RTX 3070 Ti, and this latest benchmark test does show that this may be the case, all things considered. Of course, there are some provisos that should be stipulated, which the report does caution readers about. The most eminent thing is that the specific DG2 card is not notice, so it's difficult to pinpoint precisely which model was tested. The report goes on to say that the Intel GPU was tested on an i9 processor and 32 GB of RAM, which is not unreasonably normal.

Saying this doesn't imply that the test does not merit something. There have been several early Intel Arc benchmark tests in the past, which truly were based on what the equipment was, as well as the present status of the drivers, at that point. Regardless, while it very well may be contended that it's anything but a completely solid test, the results still suggest that the Alchemist could be a champ.

Of course, that is fine and dandy assuming anybody will actually want to get hold of it in the first spot. With the tech shortages expected to seethe on until 2023, Intel is simply going to end up in the same position as Nvidia and AMD, in that it can put out as numerous products as it wants, yet it will not be beneficial assuming customers can't secure any of it.
